Prayer For Clean Speech
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)
Today I am noticing how quickly theological speech can become self-defence. I can speak to win, to impress, or to protect my preferred tribe. None of that sounds like repentance.
This verse gives me a stricter and kinder standard: words and inward meditation together, offered before God. Not just correct claims, but a heart being corrected. Not silence, but speech that serves truth and neighbour.
As a catechumen, I still need to ask hard questions about doctrine and church life. But I want to ask them as prayer, not performance. If Christ is Lord, then even my tone belongs to him.
My closing petition for this hour: Lord Jesus, keep my study from pride, my certainty from contempt, and my language fit for your presence.
